Bil Jhung, Region I Director, Post Falls

Bill has served as the Director of the Idaho Small Business Development Center at the North Idaho College since October 2005. Prior to joining Idaho SBDC, Bill served as the Executive Pastor of a large church. He has also performed strategic planning and organizational alignment for World Vision, an international relief and development agency.

As an entrepreneur he started two ventures and turned around two failing businesses. He also worked as a management consultant to Fortune 1000 companies in manufacturing, service, and non-profit industries. He began his career designing, building and running manufacturing plants.

Bill holds an MBA with a focus in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of Business. While at Wharton he also served as a senior consultant for the Wharton Small Business Development Center.


Betti Newburn, Region III Director, Boise

Certified Global Business Professional

Betti joined the Idaho Small Business Development Center in May 2011 as Region III Director in the Boise office. She began her business career as a nurse in critical care and emergency medicine before moving to the corporate world in business technology for clinical information systems development and implementation. Betti worked with early start-up companies and larger mature companies in positions including Director of Implementation at an early-stage software and hardware company, which is now a part of McKesson. She also served as Vice President of Product Development and Strategy for a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola. In the California Bay area, she was part of start-up teams for a software company and a pre-clinical research facility.

Betti has over 20 years of experience in starting and managing small businesses and working with clients nationally and internationally. As faculty for business strategy, project management, operational management and numerous other business courses online and in the classroom, Betti has contributed to undergraduate, graduate and faculty higher education. Merging education and experience, she has been a counselor to small businesses for the past several years for SCORE. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and an MBA in Technology Management.


John Hart, Region V Director, Pocatello

John has a business background in marketing and communications. He began his business career in the creative industries of art and design. He worked for a time in Connecticut as a gallery artist and international illustrator. After earning a Master’s Degree at the University of Michigan he became a college professor in New Jersey and started a consulting firm that focused on web design, multimedia marketing, and communications. John has experienced the ups and downs of small business ownership when a separate venture he launched in the summer of 2008 was interrupted by the market crash in fall 2008.

John has been involved in economic development in eastern Idaho since 2005. He has worked with municipalities, small and mid-sized businesses and non-profits. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Economic Development Association and recently on the Board of the Idaho Falls Arts Council. He joined the Idaho SBDC in 2011.
